N.C. Father Says Police Toy Utters Curse Word

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - A father is asking Toys "R" Us Inc. to take a police toy set off the shelves because he says the one given to his 6-year-old son utters a curse word. The toy set, named the "Elite Operations Role Play Set: Police," includes a nightstick and a utility belt. A recorded message that includes what sounds like a curse word plays when the nightstick is removed from the belt.

Another Accuses Priest in Foley Flap

MIAMI - Another former altar boy says he was sexually abused in the 1970s by the same retired Catholic priest who acknowledged fondling former Rep. Mark Foley when Foley was a teenager, the man's attorney said. Wednesday's new allegations against the Rev. Anthony Mercieca were made by a man who lived in North Miami and was an altar boy at St. James Catholic Church, where Mercieca worked, attorney Jeffrey Herman said.

NEWARK, N.J. - The New Jersey Supreme Court left the door ajar for the approval of same-sex marriage , ruling that gay couples are entitled to rights no different from those of heterosexual couples. The court gave state legislators 180 days to craft a bill offering gay couples the same rights as heterosexuals, though it appeared to leave open a choice between same-sex marriage and civil unions.
