'Jena 6' Court Ruling Won't Be Challenged
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco said that the prosecutor in one of the so-called "Jena 6" cases has decided not to challenge an appellate ruling that sends the case to juvenile court.
Judge Strikes Down Part of Patriot Act
PORTLAND, Ore. - A federal judge issued a stern rebuke of a key White House anti-terror law, striking down as unconstitutional two pillars of the USA Patriot Act. U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken ruled Wednesday that using the act to authorize secret searches and wiretapping to gather criminal evidence - instead of intelligence gathering - violates the constitutional protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.

Massey Energy Co. has won another round in a fight over its plans to build a second coal silo near a Raleigh County elementary school. A Kanawha County Circuit judge upheld the state Surface Mine Board's decision that allows construction of the silo, Massey said Wednesday. Teri Di Trapano Arrested On Outstanding Warrant
Charleston police arrested Teri di Trapano, the wife of former Charleston lawyer and NFL agent Dante di Trapano, because of an outstanding fugitive warrant from Florida. According to court records, a circuit judge in Pinellas County, Fla., issued a warrant for Teri di Trapano's arrest last month. The warrant alleges that she violated the terms of her probation on drug charges by failing a drug test in June.
Charleston Area Medical Center will go through its first significant personnel increase in at least a decade when it hires 134 new employees next year, hospital officials said. CAMC's parent company, CAMC Health System, also expects to add two dozen jobs at Teays Valley Hospital (formerly known as Putnam General) and another 25 new employees at its Integrated Health Care Providers subsidiary, which operates surgery and urgent care centers in Kanawha County.

Wayne man pleads guilty to insurance fraud A Wayne County man has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of insurance fraud, West Virginia Insurance Commissioner Jane Cline said in a prepared statement.
The corn maze is located off U.S. 60 in Milton. Parking is located behind Milton Middle School from where visitors are given a hayride to the location. The maze is open from 5-10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
