A trained K-9 that had only been working with the St. Albans Police Department since October was hit by a car and killed, the department said.
The German shepherd, named Xanto, was handled by Sgt. Mike Matthews, who had let the dog out of the vehicle on Tuesday for some exercise and routine patrol. A rabbit apparently tempted the dog to run into the road.See the full content of this document
