MELVILLE - The families of two missing coal miners were kept out of sight and inside a nearby Baptist church while rescue crews frantically fought a fire to find the men.

It was a far different scene from the Sago Mine three weeks ago, when crying wives and children shivered outside overnight in blankets waiting for news of their loves ones. Their emotion was displayed on television screens and front pages for the world to see during the nearly 42-hour ordeal.
