Summary


Oddly enough, we have had two cases of a condition called megaesophagus this past week. One was in a tiny little stray kitten with chronic vomiting. The other case was a beloved old basset hound that also could not keep anything down, not even water. The prognosis for each of these animals is guarded, and the etiology, or reason, for their disease is very different.

Megaesophagus in animals is primarily an issue of low to no motility in the esophagus.
