RAIN could hardly dampen the spirits of the crowds at Appalachian Power Park for the state baseball tournament, even if the numbers were smaller on average than last year.

Although no official attendance figures are available yet, crowd estimates ranged from 300 to 400 during Wednesday's opening game, to about 1,500 for the Class AA championship between Logan and defending champion Weir.
