Calif. Man Charged with Stealing Rare Violins

LOS ANGELES - A Southern California man charged with transporting two rare, stolen violins has made his first court appearance following his extradition to Los Angeles from France.

Anthony Eugene Notarstefano of Long Beach was ordered held Monday in federal detention until his next hearing on July 27 in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. The FBI says Notarstefano was arrested in 2007 for trying to sell the two violins and a rare bow worth a total of more than $300,000 to Paris music stores.
