CLARKSBURG - West Virginia Department of Transportation officials are cracking down on political signs that crop up along highways during the election season.

Only signs that are officially designated and sanctioned by the state Division of Highways may be on state rights of way, said Barry Warhoftig, director of traffic engineering.
