NAPA, Calif. - Three appetizing exhibitions at Copia: The American Center for Food, Wine and The Arts evoke the people, food and context of America's beloved icon, the diner.

* "Counter Culture: The American Diner," through Oct. 2, 2006, examines the hold diners still have on our psyches and appetites. The show conjures up the diner experience and the people who go to diners through furniture and food-related accessories, photo murals, paintings, sculpture, photography and oral histories. Also on show are examples of diner imagery and the ephemera that make diners part of a broader cultural sweep.
