Some of the horses found dead at a Beckley man's 300-acre Greenbrier County farm had been dead since October, said a veterinarian who was at the scene last week when the carcasses were discovered.

Dr. Amy Wasalaski, a veterinarian who has handled many equine cases, was called to Shawver's Crossing farm, which is owned by Grady Whitlock, 83, on Wednesday to assess and treat two horses that had gone down.
