WILLIAMSON - A Mingo County judge is awaiting a decision from the state Supreme Court chief justice on whether he should recuse himself from a case involving the Mingo County Board of Education's plan to consolidate schools.
During a hearing Tuesday, Harry Rubenstein, a Morgantown lawyer representing the school board, asked Circuit Judge Michael Thornsbury to step aside. Rubenstein cited the judge's professional relationship with Williamson Mayor Charles Stanford West, the attorney for the plaintiffs.
