Lawmakers Receive an Update On Child Protective Services

Summary


Pay raises and revamped training have improved conditions at the state agency that investigates child abuse and neglect complaints, but more must be done, lawmakers learned at an interim session meeting.

One-fourth of the jobs at Child Protective Services were vacant two years ago, but that rate has since dropped to 9 percent, said Commissioner Margaret Waybright of the Bureau for Children and Families at the Department of Health and Human Resources.
