Life for W.Va. Children Still Tough

Summary


The latest annual report on the well-being of West Virginia children shows that even though fewer children are living in poverty and fewer babies and teenagers are dying, it's still tough to be a kid in the Mountain State.

West Virginia drops from 43rd to 44th place in the national 2011 KIDS COUNT data book released Wednesday, making it one of five states with the largest drops since 2000. The others are South Dakota, Maine, Hawaii and Montana.
