With pockets of teachers talking sick-outs and even a strike to protest pay levels, Gov. Joe Manchin is hoping a new look at the numbers will persuade lawmakers to abandon their push for a 3.5 percent salary hike for educators.
The governor is sticking with his original proposal of a 2.5 percent raise, spokeswoman Lara Ramsburg said Sunday. But Manchin is pairing that hike with the additional funding that the state began adding to the teachers' salary schedule in 2005.See the full content of this document
