The fund for families of the victims of the Montcoal mining disaster has reached $250,000.

The West Virginia Council of Churches still is collecting donations from around the country for survivors of the 29 miners who perished and the two who were injured in the April 5 explosion at Massey Energy's Upper Big Branch mine in Raleigh County.
