Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, is in charge of arrangements.Rodney BlankenshipRodney "Sam" Blankenship, 76, of Rand died June 30, 2009, at his home after a long illness.Born March 23, 1933, in Murderer's Branch, Ky., he was a son of the late Arley and Elsie Dunahue Blankenship.He was an Air Force veteran and a self-employed salesman.Sam leaves behind his loving family: his wife of 56 years, Carol Blankenship; sons, Richard and Thomas and his wife, Kimberly, all of Rand; brother, Don Blankenship of Middletown, Ohio; grandchildren, Jamie, Jessie, Jimmy, Bethany and Kasey Blankenship; and great- grandchildren, Alexandria, Maddy, Jacob and Tori.At Mr. Blankenship's request, there will be no formal service or visitation.Arrangements are in the care of Elk Funeral Home, 2001 Pennsylvania Ave., Charleston.Freda P.
