CLINTON, Ill. - A mother and her former boyfriend accused in the deaths of her three children - who drowned when their car plunged into a lake - pleaded innocent to first-degree murder charges.

Lawyers for Amanda Hamm, 27, promised Wednesday to tell a "compelling, righteous and gripping story" in defending their client, charged with nine counts of first-degree murder along with Maurice Lagrone Jr., 28. Lagrone's father called the charges "ridiculous."
