Supporters of the West Virginia Air National Guard base at Yeager Airport got good news when the Base Realignment and Closure Commission voted 7-2 to consider closing North Carolina's Pope Air Force Base, which could allow West Virginia to keep its planes.

Eight C-130 cargo planes at the Charleston-based 130th Airlift Wing were slated to move to Pope. If Pope closes, those planes would remain in West Virginia.
