Position-by-Position Analysis of Saturdays Unlv-West Virginia Game

Summary

QUARTERBACKS UNLV Coach Bobby Hauck went into the season trying to decide on a starting quarterback. He selected Omar Clayton ... and the results havent been sparkling. Clayton has thrown only one pick, but pales in comparison to WVUs Geno Smith. The Mountaineers pass efficiency rating is 144.54; the Rebels rating is 127.24. Smith is 40th nationally in passing yards (229.75); Clayton is 89th at 149.6. In total offense, Smith is 49th (235.5); Clayton is 80th (179.2). EDGE: Mountaineers

RUNNING BACKS West Virginias rushing game hasnt exactly clicked as planned. Noel Devines Heisman Trophy push hasnt materialized. Hes averaging 97.8 yards, ranked 31st nationally. Hes been hurt. But compared to the rushers of UNLV, hes Jim Brown. Senior Channing Trotter is leading the Rebels with a 30.6 per game average. C.J. Cox, who could also start, is averaging 28. The Rebels could use up to four running backs against West Virginia. But dont expect any to catch your eye. EDGE: Mountaineers
