ELKINS - One of the highest and largest falls in West Virginia, High Falls, hidden in the Monongahela National Forest, roars fiercely from the mountain side before slowing its mad rush, slowing the Cheat River to its most-times leisurely pace. A serene destination, the High Falls is a premiere location for tourists and locals alike.

At an altitude exceeding 2,800 feet, a width of 100 feet and a height of around 20 feet, the falls create an austere location for nature lovers. The greatest feature of the falls is that visitors can travel to the falls by hiking a blazed trail or by riding a train.
