MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a bill ratifying an international agreement on liability for nuclear damage, obliging the government to compensate victims of any future nuclear accident, the Kremlin said today.
Russia's two houses of parliament voted this month to ratify the Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage, which requires a nuclear operator to pay damages for an accident.
