SOUTH CHARLESTON - At least one city council member is satisfied that efforts to curb overtime in the South Charleston City Fire Department have paid off.

Councilman Ben Paul announced the city has saved over $200,000 since last year on overtime for city fire personnel. He attributed those savings for the department being able to hire two more firefighters recently.
