Pope's Swiss Guards Celebrating 500 Years, Preparations Include Marches, Special Coin, Stamp

Summary

VATICAN CITY - The Swiss Guards are gearing up to mark their 500th anniversary as the colorful protectors of the pope with a series of celebrations in 2005 and 2006 and a monthlong, 530-mile march from Switzerland to Rome to recreate the arrival here of the first contingent.
