West Virginia University Tech is withdrawing its athletic membership from the Kentucky-based Mid-South Conference and will maintain independent status at the NAIA Division I level, the school's athletic department announced on Thursday.
The withdrawal becomes official on June 30, 2012. The Tech athletic program also will apply for membership in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
