MORGANTOWN - An alarm clock woke Andrew Buie for the first time at 6:30 a.m., and he made that hilly walk along Don Nehlen Drive from the Residence Inn where he was staying, to the football facility.

The hardest part about Buie's transition from high school in Jacksonville, Fla., to college at West Virginia had been the way responsibilities were dropped in his lap. No longer, he pointed out, could he rely on his mom or dad to wake him in the morning.
