With the success it had last season, plus the success it is expected to have this season, the West Virginia University Mountaineers continue to make strides toward their ultimate goal: becoming a perennial power and winning a national championship.

"We don't want to be just a great team; we want to be a great program," WVU recruiting coordinator Herb Hand said Thursday when he and the majority of the Mountaineers' staff were in Charleston for the 24th annual WVU Classic at Berry Hills Country Club.
